Gardened today. Got a nasty sunburn in the process. Since parents were in town, we decided to spruce up the front yard. We replaced some of the grass on the frontage with rocks and moved the hawthorne bushes from the porch to the frontage (to keep bees away). In the planter on the porch, we placed marigolds and some stepping stones, as well as a bench. We dug around the tree and mulched it and placed a few marigolds there as well. We got the rocks from Sanchez's landscaping for $25 a yard (a new term for me, roughly 8' x 4' x 5" of rock) and $20 delivery. Ollie (the owner) offered to do a complete lawn service if we could find him a supplier for red sandstone in el paso. All in all, our cost was about $300 and two days hard labor. The result was very nice. Connor got VERY wet playing with the hose and the plants. He had a lot of fun. In the evening, we went to Rockfish for dinner. I had the grilled shrimp and fried catfish. The grilled shrimp was VERY good, but the fish left a lot to be desired. Also had Chocolate Mousse Cake. The white chocolate was sort of nasty, but the darker chocolate was quite tasty. When we got home, found out mom's CSI was preempted by basketball, and Carolyn needed to make cheesecake. In all of this I managed to get a game of Through the Desert in with Carolyn. The game promised to take only 20 minutes. Including scoring, it took us only 17. Very good game. The pieces are kind of cumbersome, and for a color blind person, hard to play with, but it is a very smart design, and definitely makes for a satisfying game. And because of its length, it works quite well in that aspect!
